If you are interested in working in Singapore, it’s important to know which work visa you should apply for. This is to make sure that you won’t waste time and resources processing the wrong work pass. One of the work passes that Singapore offers is what we call the S Pass. What is it exactly? And who is eligible to get it?

What is an S Pass?

An S pass is the type of work visa provided for foreign professionals with a middle level skill set. It aims to attract valuable workforce that can further entrepreneurship in Singapore.

What is an S Pass?

If you are looking for job opportunities in the country, it’s important that you meet the criteria set by Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower.  If you are mid-level skill worker with significant experience in the field, you are eligible to apply regardless of nationality.

What are the s pass requirements?

Of course it starts with your skillset. This may be proven by your work experience and certificates. If you are a specialist, you need to have a diploma and other supporting documents to demonstrate your qualifications.

The required monthly salary of 2300 SGD is only a rough guide. Ultimately, it depends on your seniority. Meaning, the older you are, the higher the required monthly salary will be.

You need to have significant experience in your field.

Passport that’s valid for at least 7 months.

How does the s pass process look like?

The S Pass application will be filed by your employer or your agent. For first-timers, a declaration of business activity is required. After the application, your papers will be reviewed and in around 3 weeks, you will receive a letter stating approval or rejection. If approved, the employer will need to send the in-principle approval letter to you, the candidate. You will be able to enter Singapore through the single-entry visa it will provide. However, take note that your employer has 60 days to bring you to the country.

The next step will be to have the pass issued. It is also covered by the 60-day allowance and will also be processed by your employer or agent. The following are the requirements to have the S Pass issued:

→ Passport details
→ Insurance details (medical and work-related)
→ Immigration pass details
→ Candidate’s Singapore address
→ Address where the card will be delivered
→ Contact details of the recipient

A notification letter will be released. If stated in the letter, will need to have your photo and fingerprints registered. For this, bring your passport, appointment and notification letters, and other documents required. Once done with the verification, your card will be processed for delivery within four working days.
